A Tree Plantation Campaign - Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam was organised in association with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. The objective of the campaign was to sensitize the students towards the need to preserve the environment and ecology. The Principal Ms. Sheelu Mathew inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling of the Mulberry tree. Thereafter, students from Std. III-XII planted many saplings in the school premises.



As the chairperson of WePlant, Ms.Sheelu Mathew attended a seedbank seminar of WePlant India at ITL Public School, Dwarka. 2 students and Ms. Sangeeta Maria also attended the function.




The students of our school took the pledge to save the trees under an environment initiatiave programme 'Vrikshabandhan' organised by HRIDAY.



A Poster Making and Slogan Writing competitions were organised on the occassion of World Environment Day at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 3rd June, 2018. Jyotsana of Class VIII was awarded by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, the Union Environment Minister.




Saksham Pedal Delhi is India’s Premier Cyclothon, that aims to propagate the importance of fuel conservation and efficient energy utilization, amongst the citizens of our National Capital.
In an effort to instil socio-environmental consciousness, Saksham Pedal Delhi is an initiative by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), a non-profit organization setup in 1978 under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, engaged in promoting energy efficiency in various sections of the economy.The iconic Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium will host the event, scheduled for the 5th of November 2017 and will also create a platform for India’s finest elite athletes to compete. In association with the Cycling Federation of India & Doit Sports, Saksham Pedal Delhi will leverage sport to create mass awareness for the conservation of petroleum products. Marketed & managed by Meraki Sport & Entertainment & Choose My Bicycle, Saksham Pedal Delhi, will see over 5000 participants, across various event categories – Elite Cyclists, Amateur Ride (27km), Open Ride(9km) and Green Ride (5km). The criterium races will be conducted on a 10km course with the India Gate as a backdrop.









Formal launch of ‘Save a Million Mango Seed’ Campaign was held in our school on 21st August, 2017. The welcome address was given by our Principal and Chairperson WEPLANT organization, Ms. Sheelu Mathew. The occasion was graced by Rev. Santosh George ,Founder WEPLANT, Mr. Ranjan Rayna director and Chief strategist CauseBecause ( a primary partner to engage with schools) Mr. Vijay Sethi CIO and Head Hero MotoCorp. Ms. Kamlesh Bains DDE Govt. of Delhi. The event marked the presence of 200 students from 32 schools. The teachers and the green corps took part in plantation drive that followed the event.





On 21st August, 2017 our school organised a programme under 'Project Ankur' - an initiative by We Plant wherein 24 different schools participated in it. We Plant collaborates with CauseBecause(Hero Motocorp) programme 'Project Ankur' and plans to plant 10000 fruit trees in school, park and roadsides with the help of the students of different schools because we want to make these students as Tree Guardian or Green Corp.. The particiation certificates were given to the students who participated to appreciated their effort.


Our Sustainable World- ISA Project




On 20th May, 2017 Mr. Gerry, Ms. Tanya(from Australia) and Mr. Levi(from Holland) came to India to work under the We Plant organisation. They helped our school in setting up a nursery and shared with us the new methods of Water Irrigation System.





A talk show was organised on 17th May, 2017 on the topic "Immediate Environment Concern" by Dr. V.A.V Raman and Dr. Krishnanand Jha Professors, Department of Geography, University of Delhi .





A workshop was organised on 2nd May, 2017 by WEPLANT in our school. This was attended by 30 students and teachers. The aim of the workshop was to teach the students how to save seeds under the programme "SAVE THE SEED" and to make them aware about the sustainance of life. The students of our school collected and gave the seeds of various fruits like mango, tamarind, lemon etc. to the WE PLANT organisation.





On 18th April 2017, an initiative was taken by WEPLANT organization to conduct an orientation session on ‘Save Seeds’. This was organized at St. Mary’s School, Dwarka. The Principal of the school along with the Chairman of WEPLANT organization emphasized the significance of observing green practices for a healthier planet. The talk was followed by a PowerPoint presentation to spread awareness.


Our Principal along with the Vice Principal attended the Principal’s Conclave on “Teaching Sustainable Development Goals and Climate Change Education” at UNESCO auditorium. This was organized by The Climate Reality Project India, UNESCO & PHD Chambers. Various stakeholders voiced their concerns to create awareness and call for action to curb climate change. The students of Std. IX participated in the "Swachh Paryavaran Walk", held at Rajpath, India Gate on 19th February, 2017.

The students of Std. X and XII gave a presentation on the topic “Impacts of Climate Change” and secured the first position in the School Student Forum organized by Delhi University sustainable forum at India International Centre.



The students of St. Mary's School,Dwarka and St. Thomas Marthoma attended "A School Mentorship Programme - Saarthias" part of Climate EduXchange Phase VII was held at Father Agnel School, Gautam Nagar on 15th October, 2015. They also participated in the Collage Making Competition.


Times of India-Green Drive

We, along with 10 other schools participated in "Times of India Green Drive" at Sector 16 Dwarka. Our school was specially applauded for maximum participation.


As a part of Saarthi programme, students from mentee schools were exposed to "Basics of Computers" on 23rd December, 2014. The students of the mentor school facilitated these students to understand and apply the basic tools in computer education.

The students of St. Mary's School, Dwarka attended "A School Mentorship Programme - Saarthias" part of Climate EduXchange Phase VIorganised by TERI and Dell at the India Habitat Center on 4th December, 2014. The aim of the programme was to equip the teachers as well as the students in ICT and build capacities of beneficiary schools to inculcate leadership traits and emotional quotient.


In association with the Cycling Federation of India, St. Mary’s organized the first cycling league of Dwarka on 31st August, 2014..This coincided with launching our campaign ‘Achieving Compatible Eco-System- Cycling to Combat Climate Change’ (ACE-C4) by the school.The event involved active participation of 700 students of various schools in Dwarka and over 300 parents as well as teachers.The key objective of this campaign was to expose students to the responsibility of decreasing our carbon footprints in order to mitigate global warming.Our school was the venue for the flag off the first cycling league tournament to be organized in Dwarka.

Cyclothon



Students of classes XI and XII Science sections undertook a trip to Asola Bird Sanctuary to commemorate "Nature Conservation Day" on 30th July 2014.



Our students participated in the Art event organised by "NDTV SAVE OUR TIGERS CAMPAIGN" at Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan on the occasion of "Global Tiger Day" on 24th July 2014.


A follow-up session "Meeting the Experts" was organised at India International Centre on 3rd May 2014 which included a discussion of challenges, modus operandi to be followed etc. by the experts.


A visit was organized by TERI for the school students to Salam Balak Ram Trust, Inderlok on 29th April, 2014 to expose the students to the challenges of the life faced by the street and working children.

A workshop on "CREATE TO INSPIRE" programme was held at Delhi Secretariat on 23rd April 2014. The students of our school presented a street play on the "Conservation of Resources".

The students of our school performed a street play on "Reduce Carbon Footprints............. and Save the Earth" on 23rd April, 2014.

Eco club students organised a special assembly to observe Earth Day. A street play was put up for special guests from NOKIA e-waste collection. A talk was also organised in the morning assembly for the same on 22nd April, 2014.



Ashish Kumar of Std. X participated in the Vacation Program on Environment Resources(VPER) organized by TERI in Himachal Pradesh.


St. Mary’s School, Dwarka collaborated with ‘WePlant’ by undertaking a venture to plant, fruit bearing trees in the locality with the aim to fight malnutrition and poverty. Mr. Shikhar Dhawan, international cricketer, who is also the global ambassador of the drive, inaugurated the event.


Teachers and students participated in "Eco-Carnival" at City Centre, Gurgaon to sensitise and promote "eco-friendly" (entertainment) practices on 20th April, 2014.


An orientation workshop at India International Centre, New Delhi was attended by Ms. Seema Bali and Ms. Sangeeta Maria. The objective of the programme "Friends for Change" aims at conserving green spaces.
