The Energy and Resources Institute, also known as TERI, is a research institute based in New Delhi that conducts research work in the fields of energy, environment and sustainable development.

St. Mary’s School, Dwarka has been involved in various activities which involve student and teacher capacity building.

The projects under this are:-

A. Project SEARCH – A TERI and TETRA PAK Initiative

Project SEARCH(Sensitization, Education and Awareness on Recycling for a Cleaner Habitat) is a school ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) program that focuses on sustainable consumption and popularizing the practice of the 4Rs – refuse, reuse, reduce and recycle. It is a unique program as it goes beyond awareness and encourages schools to act. Since its inception, a sincere attempt is being made to instil a sense of responsibility in the target group to take ownership of the waste generated by them.

iii) ‘Vasundhara’ – Students Green Enterprise

B. Climate EduXchange – A TERI and DELL Initiative

Saarthi aims to build capacities through tools of ICT. The mentor-mentee programme is supported by Teri & Dell; mentee school being a marginalised school.

 

 

Plantation Drive

 

The students of St. Mary's School, Dwarka participated in the Plantation Drive organised by TERI at Green Park, Nehru Place on 22nd April, 2016.  

Tanvi Bali and Shivani Singh participated in S.T.E.P. i.e. a Leadership Development Program for school students. These young aspirants attended a five day residential training programme in Goa from 11th May to 16th May 2015. 





The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in partnership with Tetra Pak India organised a unique TRASH Festival at St. Mary‟s School, Dwarka on 31st July, 2015. The festival is an integral part of Project SEARCH (Sensitisation, Education and Awareness on Recycling for a Cleaner Habitat) – a school education programme that promotes recycling, sustainable development and active citizenship across 200 schools in the country. The TRASH festival is aimed at promoting sustainable consumption as well as raising awareness on the recyclability of used Tetra Pak cartons.



Exposure visit to National Institute of Solar Energy,Gual Pahari, Gurgaon-Faridabad Road on 24th April, 2015.

Our school was a part to the initiative named 'Doh( Two) Bin'- a step to create awareness about waste segregation which was launched in collaboration with Tetra Pak South Asia Markets and the soft-drink maker Coca-Cola headed by Mr. Kandarp Singh and Mr. Deepak Jolly respectively at DLF Gurgaon on 1stDecember, 2013.        

Bookaroo Literature Festival held on  23rd November, 2013 at Indira Gandhi national at centre for arts New Delhi. Workshop was conducted on "Best out of Waste"  by Ms. Renu Sharma, Ms. Sangeeta Maria, Ms. Shobha Prasanna.

3 students Tanvi Bali, Tisha Ghosh and Nandini Swami along with Ms. Sangeeta Maria attended a media workshop at India Habitat Centre on 25th October,2013.  

Pragya Priyadarshini participated in the STEP Programme (2013-14) and thereby successfully completed the training programme on self exploration, leadership development and active citizenship. The STEP Programme is part of Project SEARCH which is being implemented by TERI and Tetra Pak Pvt. Ltd.  

Ms. Shobha Prasanna along with 5 students attended the initiation workshop at Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar. 

3 students Tanvi Bali, Tisha Ghosh, Nandini Choudhary along with Ms.Sangeeta Maria went for ' Newspaper Jacket Design ' for Delhi Times(Times of India) on30th April, 2013.   

Earth Day celebrations were held at the Chief Minister's house where various activities were performed. 18 children participated in various events like Poster Making, Mask Making, Bingo etc; 

Eminent personalities as Kiran Walia, Kalki Koechlin, Robert Swan and Rob from various walks of life graced the event and contributed to that cause through their words, actions, enthusiasm.St. Mary's School, Dwarka lifted the trophy at the ' Your Carton My Classroom ' event organised by TERI and Tetra Pak atDLF, Saket on 22nd April, 2013. The theme of the competition was 'Joy of Giving '.

To educate people about the campaign ' Your Cartons My Classroom ', Tetra Pak along with its partners TERI and the Times of India recently organised and exciting event at DLF Place, Saket.The campaign aims at building better classrooms for the children of India. 

60 students from St. Mary's School, Dwarka participated at the Launch Ceremony of Phase V of Project SEARCH - (A TERI and Tetra Pak initiative) at Stein Auditorium India Habitat Centre on 16th April, 2013 

Pragya Priyadarshini was one of the 8 students from Delhi schools, who was chosen to undertake Leadership programme at Goa, organised by TERI and Tetra Pak under S.T.E.P programme.

Project SEARCH - TERI and Tetra Pak initiative paved the way to a sound proof MUSIC room  designed in the school using Tetra Pak cartons collected from our school and from the neighbourhood. The Managing Director, Mr. Kandarp Singh, Tetra Pak Pvt. Ltd. India visited our school and appreciated the innovative work of the students.    

The four day long Fair held at National Bal Bhavan, New Delhi witnessed an array of projects from all over the country. The project “TETRA TRAPS TIMBRE”-CONSTRUCTIVE REUSE OF TETRA PAK CARTONS  FOR SOUND PROOFING A ROOM exhibited by our students Aditya Bali of Class XII and Arshita Tomar of  Class XI was highly appreciated and won accolades as a brilliant and well researched project.

Aditya Bali of Class XII and Arshita Tomar of Class XI  received a Special Environment Management Award for the project “TETRA TRAPS TIMBRE”-CONSTRUCTIVE REUSE OF TETRA PAK CARTONS  FOR SOUND PROOFING A ROOM   by the Ministry of Environment & Forests at IRIS- Initiative for Research and Innovation in Science  National  Fair 2012.

We take great pride in being an eco-friendly organization and we believe that each of us must play our part in securing a brighter and greener future for our coming generations. Our Eco Train travelled to various schools to collect empty tetra paks for this venture.
